KTK Veterans day

tournament of Champions

Kris's Tactical Karate welcomes you to join our annual tournament in Syracuse, NE where we showcase our skills for friends and family and honor our vets. The tournament will be held on Saturday, November 16th 2024 at the SDA Middle School Gym. Doors will open at 9:00 am and competition will begin at 10:00 am. Major events include sparring, kata(forms), creative weapons, and board breaking. Registration is $45 per competitor which includes a t-shirt and entry into all desired events. Lunch, drinks, and snacks will be available for purchase.

Location

The tournament will be at the Middle School Gym in Syracuse, NE.​

Sparring

Points will be awarded for controlled strikes and kicks to valid target areas. Points will only be awarded if the attack is intentional, unblocked, and unchecked. The match is finished when a competitor reaches five points or it lasts for two minutes and thirty seconds. If the maximum time limit is reached and there's a tie, the competitor who scores the next point wins.

Head, hands, feet, and groin must be protected. Personal gear will be inspected before it will be allowed. A limited amount of head, hand, foot, and chest protection will be available. A mouth guard is optional but encouraged.

Kata/Forms

Competitors will be scored on four aspects of their kata. Each judge will be focused on one area and score the competitor from 1 - 10. The total score divided by four (avg) will be used to determine awards.

  • Stances - precision, fluidity, and power

  • Techniques - execution, power, and timing

  • Cadence - rhythm, timing, and speed

  • Mastery - skill level and overall proficiency

Creative Weapons

Competitors will be scored on four aspects of their routine. Each judge will be focused on one area and score the competitor from 1 - 10. The total score will be divided by four (avg) used to determine awards.

  • Stances - precision, fluidity, and power

  • Techniques - execution, power, and timing

  • Cadence - rhythm, timing, and speed

  • Mastery - skill level and overall proficiency

Board breaking

Rebreakable boards will be placed on a stand and a specific technique will be used. Competitors will progressively break boards of increased difficulty. If a failure to break occurs, they may attempt a second time. If the second attempt fails or the competitor chooses to stop, they will be finished with the competition. A score corresponding to the highest board or combination of boards will be awarded.
